Tooth Number 2

Tooth number two followed very quickly after tooth number 1(I think it was Sunday the 24th?). Two Tooth Teddy is taking his new teeth like a champ. He has had no issues while they have been coming in. I am playing catch up on these posts because Teddy's cousin Emmy has been in a fight for her life after she was attacked by a horrible bacterial infection. You can read about her battle here. A lot of our free time has been spent at the hospital. She is an amazing fighter and seems to be winning the battle, but it was very scary in the beginning.

Out with the Old in with the New

This week we said good-bye to the Tundra and the Jetta and hello to our brand spanking new (to us) 1999 Subaru Outback. We also said hello to Teddy's first tooth!! Pictures of both the Subaru and tooth to come.

New Direction

I have decided to turn this blog into more of a family blog since Teddy is so boring. Just kidding. He is a Ton o' Fun (at least that's what one of his sleepers says).

We had a big day last Saturday 9/10. Steve and I both swam Big Shoulders, a 5K swim in Lake Michigan. Ant Hil graciously agreed to watch Teddy while Steve and I swam (or should I say made our best attempt). Since the weather was looking pretty grim, cool and rainy, we dropped Teddy off at Hil's instead of bringing him to the race. Neither of us did a whole lot of training for this event but we both figured we could do it. It might not be pretty but we would finish. One of us did finish. I dropped out half way through. Luckily it was a two lap course so after lap one I ran for the shore and my hoody...and long pants and socks and a long sleeve t-shirt and a short sleeve t-shirt and a winter hat. I was freezing! Seriously, it took about an hour for me to stop shaking. Steve on the other hand did a bit better. He finished. Not at record pace but he finished.

In the afternoon we all went to Bob Vear's for an after party. We brought the Go-Crib and Teddy even napped. It was a great turn out and fun to hang out with the team a discuss the race. After that it was over to Dave and Lindsey's for a make your own pizza party. Everyone brought their own ingredients and Lindsey just kept the dough rolling. Check out the recap of the pizzas on Hillary's Blog. The Go-Crib came out again and Teddy went to sleep jammies and all. We left the Paulus's around 1230. With careful tranfers to the car seat and to the crib Teddy stayed asleep and slept through the night until about 530. I woke up and fed him then Steve took over for about an hour until he went down for his morning nap. Then I took over from there. I thought it worked out great! Let's hope we can keep this going.

Sleepy Wed

Teddy went to bed at 8 (Tuesday night) and slept until 610. I went and got him at 630, fed him and we played and he went back to sleep at 725.

He woke up at about 800 we played some more, he had a snack and went back to bed at 910. Maybe the cooler temps are making him sleepy.

Woke up around 11 ate some more then we packed up for an adventure. Teddy in the Ergo on my back and I put him there all by myself. First stop the bank. After 9 1/2 years of marriage Steve and I are getting a joint bank account. I guess we are officially tied together. Then Teddy and I headed over to Border's for its final day. Everything was 80-90% off and if you bought 6 books you got another 15% off. I bought 7 books. There was a very minimal selection but most things only cost a $1 or 2 so why not. We got home around 1 and I ate while Teddy watched then he ate and went down for another nap.

He woke up around 330. We messed around for awhile then decided to go visit Mere and the kids in the stroller. It was a good afternoon distraction and the Bolan's always love a visit from Teddy. Around 5 we headed home because Teddy was getting hungry. I fed him and we chatted with Dad for a bit. Teddy fell asleep eating. He rested for just a short time in my arms.

The rest of the evening was spent trying to distract him enough to make it to bed time. He gets kind of cranky and has a very short attention span. We made it to about 7 then I took him upstairs for a bath which is always good for about a half hour of distraction. He was asleep before 8. I wasn't sure if he would make it through the night but he slept like a champ and woke up around 6. Good boy!

Family Day

Teddy ate about 5oz this morning and then fell asleep in the swing after playing for a while and then we got ready for our day.  Teddy and I cruised over to check out Stone Monroe Park this morning after a nice meal of 7oz but everything was pretty wet from the rain so we continued on and stopped at his Grandparents house for about a 30 minute visit.  He seemed OK with the BOB which was great.  The grandparents were excited to hang out with Teddy.  Big Ted even gave Teddy a musical performance on his harmonica.

We then left and walked home.  Teddy was tired of the stroller so he went into the bjorn for most of the walk home.  It started raining just after we got through the front door.  Perfect timing.  Teddy took about 3oz and fell asleep for a short nap and then we headed to see Cuz.

They "played" for a bit and then we headed over to see how Grandaddy was doing, but he was sleeping so we talked to Grammy outside for a bit.  We then returned home and Teddy ate about 7oz and slept from about 2:00 to past 4:00.  Great nap.

He woke up very happy and smiley, so we talked while he was in his crib for a bit then got him a new diaper and then he sat in the bumbo seat with his favorite toy, a bag of egg noodles while I got another bottle ready.

5oz down and then he played on the mat for a while.  Mom's coming home soon!

Exploring Bemis

Teddy got up early today around 5:30 and I fed him a bottle of about 4 oz.  He took a small nap and then he was back up at 7:30.  After playing for a little bit he took 7oz and then napped from about 8:15 -10:30.

Once he was up and fed again(5oz), we packed up and headed into Bemis for about a 2 mile hike.  Teddy seemed pretty content the whole time and then after we were done hiking, we hung out in the grass for a while.  Teddy practiced standing which as always he enjoyed greatly and then he practiced sitting and ripping handfuls of grass out of the ground.  Good times, let me tell you.

Note for next time, pack a blanket and a change of clothes for him.  He could have sat in the field outside for quite some time, maybe even napped out there.

He fell back asleep during the car ride home.   He woke up and got a diaper change that could have been classified as a natural disaster zone.  After getting a change of an outfit and cleaning up the changing area! he took 5oz which wasn't enough so he played with his bag of noodles in his bumbo seat while I defrosted more milk.  2 more oz made him much happier and we then spent some quality time on the porch swing together.  He started getting crabby and none of his usual toys were doing anything for him.  So I put him up in his crib.

He got up around 4:00 which was about an hour and a half nap.  He was a pretty good sleeper today.  He took 4oz and we talked for a while and he crawled around on me for about 45 minutes.  He started getting really crabby, so we did some crawl training for a while.  Pretty sure it made him cry more, but I swear he is making progress!  Eventually he got tired out and it was nap time again.   Mom should be home soon.

Wednesday Again

Teddy woke up at 540 laid in bed until 6 when I got him and fed him. Diaper change and a bit of play time. I changed into workout clothes but had no plan. We came down stairs and I put him in his strollers without the car seat and he seemed OK with it. I pushed him around in the house and he still seemed fine. So I quick grabbed his hat and a blanket and we head off for a jog. Ran to the bike trail and into Bemis. He seemed totally content. YAY! We were out for 40 minutes and he was asleep for about 20 of it. We then went in the garage for a few more exercises. When we were done it was just in time for the parade. We sat on the front steps and watched the kids go by. Bobby and Brooke said "Hello" (Jimmy was sick). He seemed kind of tired so I put him in his crib but it didn't take so I fed him and we played upstairs in our bed for awhile. Then it was back to the crib. This one took. He went down a little bit after 10.

Whoa! He woke up at 1245. Good nap. After another feeding we took the stroller out again. I thought Teddy might like the swings at the park so we went to Stone Monroe. He loved it. You can't tell from the picture but he really did like it. He kept getting distracted by the phone when I held it up to take the picture.
After the swing we walked over to the Metcalfe's to see if they were home but they were not. Then over to G & G Sward's but they were not home either so we just went home. We got home in time to catch the afternoon parade which is always entertaining.

Steve came home so we all headed over to see Grand Daddy. He was just home from the hospital after having his gallbadder removed. After a short visit there which included Cuz and Aunt Jess we came home. Teddy and I hit the stroller again and walked over to the Flynn's. We hung out while they finished dinner and then we all took a quick walk around the neighborhood. Teddy was exhausted so he went to bed early. Hopefully he will sleep through the night. He has the past few nights so lets hope the trend continues.
