Happy Halloween!

Teddy's first Halloween! On Saturday the 29th we walked down to the La Grange Halloween Walk. Whoa. A million kids and parents trick or treating from business to business. There were so many people that there was a line winding all through downtown.

Teddy had two costumes. His first was a monkey costume given to him before he was born from everyone at Eire. They really wanted us to have matching costumes. Me in my mom's 50+ year old hand made monkey costume and Teddy in his monkey costume. Unfortunately with Steve's injury he couldn't bring Teddy down to my office. My monkey costume stays at the office in a drawer and comes out each Halloween for our office costume contest. It took me a few years but I have won best costume for the past two years.

Teddy's second costume came from Aunt Kathleen (Jessica's sister). She got it at a used clothing sale and could not resist. It was a perfect fit.

When I got home from work I took Teddy in his giraffe costume to Grandma and Grandpa Swards and Grand Daddy and Grammy. They loved him.

Teddy also picked out a pumpkin from the farm stand on 31st street.

So Many Firsts So Little Time

First Bike Ride 10/15, 5 months and 3 weeks....

First Real Camping , same day...

We had some great fall weather so we decide to take Teddy camping which included a bike ride to camp. We drove out to Channahon State Park which is about 45 minutes away. We loaded up the van with a lot of gear, but Steve was comfortable pulling it all on his trailer. We got to the trail head and Teddy was not in the best of moods so Steve told me to just go ahead so we could keep Teddy moving. The ride to the camp site is a little less than 4 miles so about 20 minutes. Teddy cried the whole time :). I was smiling and waving to everyone on the trail. I think everyone was amused by the two of us. Steve had an eventful ride too. There is a very steep incline to get on to the trail and as he headed up the bins fell off the back. All in all it was a good first family camp out.

Teddy is a good little camper.

Van full of gear.

Family photo.

Another first followed just four days after this photo. Steve's first table saw accident. He should make a full recovery but they did officially call it a partial amputation!

Ooops I Guess We Started Solids

We had planned to start Teddy on solid food at 6 months. About two weeks before I thought I would just see what he thought of bananas. I eat one in front of him every morning, so I stuck it in his mouth. He wasn't sure at first but then he started sucking on it. I did that for a couple of days. The I thought why not give him a little bit on my finger. He liked that but we had trouble with the transfer from my finger to his mouth. So I thought, maybe I should use a spoon. That was it. He couldnt get enough. So then we tried sweet potatoes and then avocado. He loves them all as you can see.

You see some videos of his first meals here.

Tooth Number 2

Tooth number two followed very quickly after tooth number 1(I think it was Sunday the 24th?). Two Tooth Teddy is taking his new teeth like a champ. He has had no issues while they have been coming in. I am playing catch up on these posts because Teddy's cousin Emmy has been in a fight for her life after she was attacked by a horrible bacterial infection. You can read about her battle here. A lot of our free time has been spent at the hospital. She is an amazing fighter and seems to be winning the battle, but it was very scary in the beginning.

Out with the Old in with the New

This week we said good-bye to the Tundra and the Jetta and hello to our brand spanking new (to us) 1999 Subaru Outback. We also said hello to Teddy's first tooth!! Pictures of both the Subaru and tooth to come.

New Direction

I have decided to turn this blog into more of a family blog since Teddy is so boring. Just kidding. He is a Ton o' Fun (at least that's what one of his sleepers says).

We had a big day last Saturday 9/10. Steve and I both swam Big Shoulders, a 5K swim in Lake Michigan. Ant Hil graciously agreed to watch Teddy while Steve and I swam (or should I say made our best attempt). Since the weather was looking pretty grim, cool and rainy, we dropped Teddy off at Hil's instead of bringing him to the race. Neither of us did a whole lot of training for this event but we both figured we could do it. It might not be pretty but we would finish. One of us did finish. I dropped out half way through. Luckily it was a two lap course so after lap one I ran for the shore and my hoody...and long pants and socks and a long sleeve t-shirt and a short sleeve t-shirt and a winter hat. I was freezing! Seriously, it took about an hour for me to stop shaking. Steve on the other hand did a bit better. He finished. Not at record pace but he finished.

In the afternoon we all went to Bob Vear's for an after party. We brought the Go-Crib and Teddy even napped. It was a great turn out and fun to hang out with the team a discuss the race. After that it was over to Dave and Lindsey's for a make your own pizza party. Everyone brought their own ingredients and Lindsey just kept the dough rolling. Check out the recap of the pizzas on Hillary's Blog. The Go-Crib came out again and Teddy went to sleep jammies and all. We left the Paulus's around 1230. With careful tranfers to the car seat and to the crib Teddy stayed asleep and slept through the night until about 530. I woke up and fed him then Steve took over for about an hour until he went down for his morning nap. Then I took over from there. I thought it worked out great! Let's hope we can keep this going.

Sleepy Wed

Teddy went to bed at 8 (Tuesday night) and slept until 610. I went and got him at 630, fed him and we played and he went back to sleep at 725.

He woke up at about 800 we played some more, he had a snack and went back to bed at 910. Maybe the cooler temps are making him sleepy.

Woke up around 11 ate some more then we packed up for an adventure. Teddy in the Ergo on my back and I put him there all by myself. First stop the bank. After 9 1/2 years of marriage Steve and I are getting a joint bank account. I guess we are officially tied together. Then Teddy and I headed over to Border's for its final day. Everything was 80-90% off and if you bought 6 books you got another 15% off. I bought 7 books. There was a very minimal selection but most things only cost a $1 or 2 so why not. We got home around 1 and I ate while Teddy watched then he ate and went down for another nap.

He woke up around 330. We messed around for awhile then decided to go visit Mere and the kids in the stroller. It was a good afternoon distraction and the Bolan's always love a visit from Teddy. Around 5 we headed home because Teddy was getting hungry. I fed him and we chatted with Dad for a bit. Teddy fell asleep eating. He rested for just a short time in my arms.

The rest of the evening was spent trying to distract him enough to make it to bed time. He gets kind of cranky and has a very short attention span. We made it to about 7 then I took him upstairs for a bath which is always good for about a half hour of distraction. He was asleep before 8. I wasn't sure if he would make it through the night but he slept like a champ and woke up around 6. Good boy!

Family Day

Teddy ate about 5oz this morning and then fell asleep in the swing after playing for a while and then we got ready for our day.  Teddy and I cruised over to check out Stone Monroe Park this morning after a nice meal of 7oz but everything was pretty wet from the rain so we continued on and stopped at his Grandparents house for about a 30 minute visit.  He seemed OK with the BOB which was great.  The grandparents were excited to hang out with Teddy.  Big Ted even gave Teddy a musical performance on his harmonica.

We then left and walked home.  Teddy was tired of the stroller so he went into the bjorn for most of the walk home.  It started raining just after we got through the front door.  Perfect timing.  Teddy took about 3oz and fell asleep for a short nap and then we headed to see Cuz.

They "played" for a bit and then we headed over to see how Grandaddy was doing, but he was sleeping so we talked to Grammy outside for a bit.  We then returned home and Teddy ate about 7oz and slept from about 2:00 to past 4:00.  Great nap.

He woke up very happy and smiley, so we talked while he was in his crib for a bit then got him a new diaper and then he sat in the bumbo seat with his favorite toy, a bag of egg noodles while I got another bottle ready.

5oz down and then he played on the mat for a while.  Mom's coming home soon!

Exploring Bemis

Teddy got up early today around 5:30 and I fed him a bottle of about 4 oz.  He took a small nap and then he was back up at 7:30.  After playing for a little bit he took 7oz and then napped from about 8:15 -10:30.

Once he was up and fed again(5oz), we packed up and headed into Bemis for about a 2 mile hike.  Teddy seemed pretty content the whole time and then after we were done hiking, we hung out in the grass for a while.  Teddy practiced standing which as always he enjoyed greatly and then he practiced sitting and ripping handfuls of grass out of the ground.  Good times, let me tell you.

Note for next time, pack a blanket and a change of clothes for him.  He could have sat in the field outside for quite some time, maybe even napped out there.

He fell back asleep during the car ride home.   He woke up and got a diaper change that could have been classified as a natural disaster zone.  After getting a change of an outfit and cleaning up the changing area! he took 5oz which wasn't enough so he played with his bag of noodles in his bumbo seat while I defrosted more milk.  2 more oz made him much happier and we then spent some quality time on the porch swing together.  He started getting crabby and none of his usual toys were doing anything for him.  So I put him up in his crib.

He got up around 4:00 which was about an hour and a half nap.  He was a pretty good sleeper today.  He took 4oz and we talked for a while and he crawled around on me for about 45 minutes.  He started getting really crabby, so we did some crawl training for a while.  Pretty sure it made him cry more, but I swear he is making progress!  Eventually he got tired out and it was nap time again.   Mom should be home soon.

Wednesday Again

Teddy woke up at 540 laid in bed until 6 when I got him and fed him. Diaper change and a bit of play time. I changed into workout clothes but had no plan. We came down stairs and I put him in his strollers without the car seat and he seemed OK with it. I pushed him around in the house and he still seemed fine. So I quick grabbed his hat and a blanket and we head off for a jog. Ran to the bike trail and into Bemis. He seemed totally content. YAY! We were out for 40 minutes and he was asleep for about 20 of it. We then went in the garage for a few more exercises. When we were done it was just in time for the parade. We sat on the front steps and watched the kids go by. Bobby and Brooke said "Hello" (Jimmy was sick). He seemed kind of tired so I put him in his crib but it didn't take so I fed him and we played upstairs in our bed for awhile. Then it was back to the crib. This one took. He went down a little bit after 10.

Whoa! He woke up at 1245. Good nap. After another feeding we took the stroller out again. I thought Teddy might like the swings at the park so we went to Stone Monroe. He loved it. You can't tell from the picture but he really did like it. He kept getting distracted by the phone when I held it up to take the picture.
After the swing we walked over to the Metcalfe's to see if they were home but they were not. Then over to G & G Sward's but they were not home either so we just went home. We got home in time to catch the afternoon parade which is always entertaining.

Steve came home so we all headed over to see Grand Daddy. He was just home from the hospital after having his gallbadder removed. After a short visit there which included Cuz and Aunt Jess we came home. Teddy and I hit the stroller again and walked over to the Flynn's. We hung out while they finished dinner and then we all took a quick walk around the neighborhood. Teddy was exhausted so he went to bed early. Hopefully he will sleep through the night. He has the past few nights so lets hope the trend continues.

Wonderful Wednesday

I had to sneak a workout in because I skipped Monday since Teddy decided to wake up at 2 and stay up til 330 on Sunday night. I got up around 5 and heard him russelling at about 530. Its ok though because if he is well rested he will just lie in his bed and talk/play for a while. I finished my workout and took a quick shower before he started crying. At 610 I got him, changed his diaper and fed him. Then we played for a while and then he pooped (crazy poop, wow). Diaper change and he was seeming tired so put him in his crib. He fussed for about 10 minutes then was out. That was at about 745.

He slept until 930. Another feeding and more poop and lots of it. His system should be clean as a whistle! Steve was booked in the morning but had the afternoon free so Teddy and I ran some errands in the morning. We went to REI and picked out Steve's birthday presents and then to Walgreens. Teddy slept a bit in the car ride home. We saw Cuz and Mrs. Jones on our way home and stopped to to "Hi".

Steve was done with work by the time we got home so I fed Teddy (and a quick visit from Mere) and then off we went for our hike. We headed toward Waterfall Glenn and thought we would show Teddy the waterfall and do some more testing of the Sherpani. Teddy fell asleep on the car ride over so instead of waking him for a hike we went to Ikea. I had never been to one so Teddy and I had a first together. Of course he woke up within 2 minutes of being there, but we did the full tour anyway. We did get our hike in after Ikea. Teddy LOVED the Sherpani as you can see. The bugs were pretty bad so it was a short hike to the waterfall and straight back to the car.

We got home and fed him and then he was off to sleep. An hour plus nap and then a trip to TJ's. This time Teddy in the Ergo but in the back position. He seemed to like it although he slumped to the side most of the time. I think he was trying to look around me to see what was going on.

So that was our fun day together. Its nice when Steve is around. It reminds me of when we were together as a family for most of my maternity leave. Those were some wonderful days.

Monday

Mom fed Teddy at around 630 and she was off for work.  Teddy and I spent some time this morning swinging on the porch swing watching the parade walk by.  Bobby, Jimmy and Brook all yelled up to us to say hi.  Teddy was looking pretty tired but refused to nap in his crib, I think he just wanted to be a part of the action as long as possible.  He started getting really cranky and so I tried the indoor swing.  He was talking to me and playing with toys while yawning and rubbing his eyes and finally gave in.  He slept until almost 1140am!

6oz down and a ton of very excitable playtime on the mat.  lots of rolling and banging toys together.  Then we went on a walk with him in the Sherpani, his first real experience in it beyond our yard.  We walked through LGP for about a mile and then he came home and got a diaper change and ate about 3oz before passing out around 200.  If friday's weather holds up I think we are going to attempt our first real adventure in the woods!  YES!

He woke around 245 and ate another 1.5oz  and we went out to the porch swing to watch the parade.  that lasted about an hour and we came in and played some more on the mat.  After snacking on about another 1.5 oz he lost interest in eating and was rubbing his eyes, so i put him in his crib where he cried bloody murder for a little while.  I rocked him in the rocking chair for a bit until he seemed extra sleepy again and laid him back down.  He started screaming again for about 5 minutes and then tired himself out around 420.

Friday, August 26, 2011

Friday

He woke up today at 730 and took 4oz then slept in the swing for a quick nap after some play time.

He woke up and took 5oz around 945 then after his stomach settled for a bit we loaded up and walked up to downtown Lagrange then walked past LT North and went to see Cuz, but she wasn't home it appeared so we walked back home.  It was probably about 4 miles i bet.
back at 11:30 and we chatted for a bit and played with some toys and then he ate 6oz @ noon.  He cried until 1:45; with nothing really calming him down except for a quick staring contest in the mirror with himself; and took 2 more oz.  He then fell asleep and I put him in his crib.

He woke up pretty quickly and i gave him like 2 more oz.  then another 1oz and he FINALLY fell asleep on the couch in the basement at around 3:30 and slept until just past 6:00.

Wednesday Work Day

Teddy and I had lots to do today. In the morning we had to go to two BP sites and spy on some people Eire hired to promote a credit card. First it was off to Westchester. Teddy was awake for this one, but was pretty content playing in his car seat while I had a quick chat with the "greeter" we hired. Then off to Orland Park. This time Teddy slept which was good since he had his big 4 month check up at the Dr at 1. Steve cut his day short so he could go with us. Teddy was 14 lbs 10 oz. which is the 50% for his age. He was 25 1/4" which is the 60%. And his poor little head was 41 cm which is the 25%. Hopefully the saying is true that great things come in small packages. He got 3 shots which he did not like but recovered from quickly. He even gave the nurse who gave him the shots some cute smiles on the way out just to say "no hard feelings."

After the appt we stopped by Borders which is closing and everything is 40-60% off. Found some possible Christmas gifts but didn't buy anything. May go back later when the discount is even lower. Then headed home for some eating and sleeping. And that was about it.

Tuesday

The weather wasn't great had some off and on rain. So Teddy spent most of the day inside. It was also the first day of school which means the parade of kids and cars is back. Gram Sward came by early to get in before the parade. Then they sat on the porch and watched the show. At 9 Teddy got a fresh diaper and was down for a nap. He fussed a bit at 945 but didn't get up until 1145. Good boy! Got another diaper and a bottle then it was play time. He did some training, swinging and then a little stroller ride inside. Teddy has been not happy in the stroller lately but we are still trying and he seemed to enjoy his indoor ride. The cleaning ladies came at 1245 so Grandma took Teddy out on the porch for a swing. At 145 a fresh diaper and down for another nap. He woke up at 230 and a got some milk. That was about it. Steve came home and took over. He loves his special day with G & G Sward!

Monday

Teddy and I spent the first part of the morning hanging out in bed, talking and doing a little core training.  He seemed tired and whiney by around 8:00 so after trying a few options out, I put him in the swing and he fell asleep after about 15 minutes of smiling, laughing from our conversations we were having.  I was incredibly thankful that he fell asleep as I was feeling very tired from my 85 mile bike ride I did yesterday.

I woke up around 930am and got his bottle ready thinking he would wake up any minute, but he slept until almost 10:15.  He woke up happy and seemed kinda playful so we played for a bit and then at 10:30 I gave him 5oz.  We then played with some toys on his mat and I got things ready for a little adventure.

I took him to REI and we checked out some toys for me although he seemed to really enjoy everything to look at.  We were there for about 30 minutes and then headed home.  He fell asleep on the way back around 11:45.

Da Bears
He got up around 1:45 and he ate 5oz.  We then worked on standing up from a seated position.  I would sit him down on me facing me and grab his hands.  "Ready, Go" and I would just start to pull a little and then he would take over flexing his biceps and staightening out his legs.  He would then pull my hands all the way to his chest and stand up, flexing different muscles through out his body to try to stabalize himself.  He'd look down at his feet while doing it and when he got all the way up, he'd raise his head and look at me with a huge smile coming across his face.  This kid's ready to go, he just needs his body to catch up........

I saw him rub his eyes once and headed over to the porch swing to try to get him to crash.  Susie came home and yelled to me, "looks like your in your spot!"  We rode out the swing for a while and then he started rubbing his eyes alot so I moved him to his crib.  Five minutes of whining and sucking his hands and he was out cold at about 3:30.

He woke up at about 4:30 and I fed him 4.5oz.   After playing for a little bit and doing a mandatory training session, we went on the swing for a bit and then suited up in the bjorn and headed down to pick up Katy at the train station.

Friday, August 19, 2011

Friday

Katy had a press check so she was with Teddy in the AM and then around 1pm, after eating 5oz,  Teddy and I headed to see a few of my friends over at Woodcraft, one of which had given Teddy a carved rocking horse that he had made a long time ago.  He was awake and spend the time there in the bjorn VERY wide eyed.  I'm not sure what he thought about that place, but they were getting some smiley faces from them.  We got home and shortly after Katy got home and we went with her into Naperville for some gas station inspections.  We ate at some strange hotdog/middle eastern food place, the Cedar Grill.  I had the worst falafel sandwich.  Never Again....

Thursday. August 18, 2011

Today Teddy took a long walk into town to visit the Western Springs Water Tower wearing an outfit that his daddy wore 36 years ago.   I should have taken him out of his carrier, but did not want to upset a happy baby.  Really liked walking to town this way as the stroller made Teddy very angry today.

Wednesday

Teddy woke up at 430. I fed him and then he went back to bed. YAY! Mom can get a workout in. Just about when I finished up and had a little breakfast he woke up (6:30). He was happy as can be. I changed him and we headed out for some fresh air. I had left my bike at the train station so we went and picked it up. I had Teddy in the Ergo. When we got back I had some oatmeal and then Teddy had some breakfast and he was back to sleep. I had some time to shower lay out some clothes for tomorrow and mow a bit of the parkway that got missed when the Nueton died.

Teddy was up around 9 then off to Mere's for a visit and walk that ended at Ogden with the kids rollerblading on the playground. After all of that action Teddy needed some more food and more sleep he went down around 11.

He was up at 1230 then off to the VFC with Mere and the kids. He finally got his dunk at the pool where I grew up and lifguarded for many years. And a special treat Mary (one of my lifeguarding friends) was there. We haven't seen each other for years and vowed to not let that happen again. We will see. She lives close so it shouldn't be hard to get together. Even talked about a lifeguard reunion. We got home at 330 for a feeding then a nap.

Up at 630 and off to my parents for dinner with Rod and Jackie.

Special Guest Tuesday

Tuesday was a special day. G & G Sward had some help caring for Teddy. Great Uncle Rod and Great Aunt Jackie were in town from Florida. What a special treat! Jackie helped with some feeding and Rod mowed the lawn. Later in the day John and Helen (Bradford) (Gram 3) showed up for a surprise visit.

Monday

Teddy got up for me around 7:45am and we played in bed for a little bit.  I wish he had slept until noon as I got a lousy night sleep!  What else is new!  So he ate 5oz around 8:30 and then we played for a while with some toys.  He went to bed in his crib around 9:15am and slept until almost 11:30am.  Great nap and I got a little work done, but I probably should have napped when he did.

He took 5oz and then we suited up and walked into LaGrange for a little bit.  I then stopped next door and asked Suzie to watch Teddy for a couple of minutes while I went to the corner house and transported a large wooden Monkey bars set up made out of 4x4's back to our house.  Its perfect for either an upgraded garden for next season that we have been discussing or I am sure Katy will use it for some of her own training in the back yard.   After Suzie, Sarah, Jake and Teddy watched me push this structure down the road and into our driveway, I hung out with them for a few minutes on the front porch and then Teddy and I came home and he did some intense training for about 10 minutes then he passed out from exhaustion face down on his training mat.

He woke up after a quick 15 minute nap and was ready to eat again.  5oz went down fast(one break that he was NOT happy about) and he seemed like he could have drank another bottle, but I think he was just really tired and whiny.  The swing calmed him down, but he fought off the urge to nap as long as he could.  Down for the count a little after 3pm.

He woke up around 3:50 and we talked for a bit, but ultimately he wasn't done sleeping and fell back asleep about 10 minutes later.

Morning with D&N

Teddy and I left the house around 8am and headed into Brookfield to take care of a little bicycle maintenance for a friend.  While Teddy was hanging out in the kitchen watching Cynthia cook breakfast, I helped Jason swap out a bottom bracket.  Once installed we were off to Forest Park to spend the morning with Doug and Natalia.  Teddy took 5oz at 9am and then we took a walk into Oak Park for a quick breakfast of iced frappachino's and baked goods.  Teddy was in the bjorn when I placed my order and he thought Teddy should get a decaf since he seemed so wide eyed and alert.

After we finished our breakfast, we walked around OakPark, checking out some Frank Lloyd Wright homes and his studio.  I thought it was a pretty interesting walk but Teddy slept through the whole thing.  We got back to Doug and Natalia's condo around 11:30, where they got to spend some time playing with Teddy once he woke up.  I fed him another 5oz around noon and we left a little while later to head back to the LGP.  After a quick nap and some playing around, Teddy got hungry again so I fed him another 4.5oz around 2:30pm and then we talked for a bit and then he went in the swing to talk so more, eventually falling asleep in there around 3:15 or so.
He slept until about 5:45pm.  It was a great nap!

Thursday in Western Springs

Teddy came around 8 this morning and greeted Grammy and Granddaddy with lots of smiles and urps, so he needed a new onesie.  He drank 5 oz. of milk at 8:45 and took a 40 minute nap.  Again he did a lot of spitting up and was not a "happy camper."  After a diaper change and a new onesie, we were off for a walk to Western Springs and we saw the Ekdahl House and Kirschbaums although he didn't really see it as he was asleep.  The shoppers oohed and awed over our snoozing Teddy.  We came home by 11:30 and did lots of dancing and moving around with Grammy as he wasn't happy reading quiet books.  Around 12:30 he drank 5.5 oz. of milk (used the frozen supply)and fell asleep at 1:00.  Amazingly it is now 3:45 and still he is sleeping and dreaming of the pool or milk.  It's now 4:00 and Teddy is awake with happy smiles.  I used some more frozen milk and gave him a bottle--5oz.  Steve came by to pick him up in the truck.  Off they go back to LGP, till next time.

Wednesday Again

He was up at 5 so I figured he needed a quick bite to eat and then he would be back to bed. No such luck. Tried the new crazy mobile to keep him entertained but still in bed and thought he might just fall asleep but no. So figured some fresh air might help so we went for a run. He fell asleep but then woke up when we stopped to chat with a neighbor. So we headed over to Flynn's to see if they were up. It was 7:15 by now and of course they were up and they didn't mind having some visitors. Hung out there for about a half hour and then Teddy seemed like he was ready to go down for the count. Brought him straight up stairs but he wasn't having it. He played with dad for a bit then I changed his diaper and he was falling asleep on the changing table. So one last try. This time it stuck. It was 835. Up at 950...not bad. After a feeding and a bit of playtime we headed of for a walk. We decided to surprise Grandma S at the Historical Society. It took us about a half hour to get there. Teddy was in the Ergo. Stayed for a short visit and headed back. Teddy took a couple of catnaps along the way. When we got back I changed Teddy's diaper then tried for some training time. He cried for a short session then just fell asleep. It was 1235. I got a few things done around the house and a short nap in. He woke up at 150. Fed him and then decided to meet up with Steve at the LFC for a swim. He was working with Toby on something called a gagaball court. I guess its the new big thing with the kids. We got a nice swim in which makes pool number 5 for Teddy (LT, Pannland, WSSC, Alison Begg's pool). Still need to get over to the "V" and Edgewood Valley CC. Teddy took a short nap after swimming and continued to sleep on the ride home. Maybe got a half hour in. Played a bit and then fed him again at around 515. He was a bit fussy so we put him down on his play mat and he fell asleep. He woke up around 815 for some more food so changed him to his PJs and fed him, then off to bed.

up at 7:30 and took 5oz
worked on his volleyball skills in the bouncy seat
nap in the swing
11:00 took 4.5oz
standing and talking
11:20 tired but refusing to sleep, lot of crying going on
that lasted 10 minutes then i rocked him and held him for a while
11:49 trying it again....
11:56 the crying has stopped and he is asleep
12:40 awake and crabby.  he was pretty gassy, some of which was pretty stinky.
1:00 took 4.5 oz after we tried a few things to play with and a few activities, but he was not in the mood for anything, pretty tired looking.
we watched some universal sports in bed while he practiced pushing off of me with his legs while on his back.  I would grab his ankles and pull him back and he would smile and then start pushing again.  He is getting pretty strong.  He is even more tired and is starting to glaze over....

From 1:30-2:15 I have been trying to put him down but he is not on board with that plan, but he is in his crib and has stopped crying and is sucking on his hands.

3:15 took 5.0oz and then finally fell asleep in the swing around 4pm

Monday with Dad

Teddy got out of bed at around 7:30am.  His last feeding was at 4am.  After the two of us hung out in bed for a little bit talking, I got us packed up and headed over to Grandma and Granddaddy's house.  They watched Teddy for me while I went on an estimate in WS.  Grandma fed him about 5oz(8:45am) which she said he took down very easily and maybe wanted more?  He then fell asleep after about 1 minute of being put in the car seat, at about 9:45am.

We returned home and I got some chores done around the house, while he slept.  He woke up for a second with his eyes just barely open.  I walked by him during my chores and stopped and looked at him.  He smiled at me and then closed his eyes and fell back asleep.  He wasn't ready to get up yet I guess.

Teddy woke around 12:15 and we played for a little bit in the jump seat and got a diaper change.  I then fed him 6oz and he was full.  I had 2oz left in the bottle.  We talked a bit and he was rubbing his eyes like crazy so I put him upstairs in his crib with the motion mobile on(1:00).

That lasted about 10 minutes so we "played" with some toys and he seemed a little antsy so I moved him to the swing for a bit.  He was almost asleep at 1:40 so I moved him to his crib after rocking him in my arms for a bit.  He was out cold by 1:50 when i went up to check on him.

2:15pm  He woke up.  That damn motorized mobile shuts itself off after a while.  He woke up when that happened.  So now we are doing a training session.  Its a pretty strong showing.

After a session in the swing and jump seat, we talked or more like laughed for a little bit.  He was hysterical at times, pretty funny.

Diaper change then 4oz at 2:55 and he was VERY sleepy so I carried him upstairs and laid him down@ 3:30  He was sucking his hand.

He woke up around 4 but fell back asleep in the swing around 4:40

Action Packed

My first day off of work. I think this schedule is going to be wonderful. The night before I went on a walk with Teddy in the Bjorn and discussed our plans for the next day. We decided to go for a run/walk at Water fall Glen in the morning and hit the pool in the afternoon if it was sunny. Here is how the day actually went.

At 715 we headed over to Cuz's house to feed Teddy then head out to Water Fall Glen for a walk. He didn't eat much, he seemed very distracted. Teddy fell asleep on the ride there and about half of the walk. I would call that a catnap. Luckily we decided to head back before he really had a meltdown. We did have a nice time with Aunt Jess and Cuz.

When we got home Teddy had a good feeding at about 10.

For a second night in a row I have found Teddy awake in his crib with one leg stuck between the slats. I guess we need to invest in a crib bumper. I have been meaning to check out Community Nurse to see what their baby section is like. I am all for him having gently used clothes and toys whenever possible. Figured this would be a good time maybe they have a crib bumper. So we headed out with Teddy in the Ergo Carrier. No luck on the bumper but did find this cool toy and bought it for $6. Teddy took another catnap on the walk home in the Ergo.

Thought he might take a longer nap so I put him down in the bouncy seat and he woke up. Then tried to get him to go down in his crib, not happening. So off to BuyBuy Baby for the bumper and some bottle accessories. Of course he fell asleep in the car on the way and slept until I opened the front door. That stupid front door!

The good news is when we got home The Other Ted was there and the police found his van! Wow! A crazy turn of events. It was found in Lyons with no radio and the fuel line cut. Anything of value on the inside was taken. Now the dilemma what to do with it. More on that as the plot develops.

Fed Teddy again at 145 and he fell asleep half way through. Success! He slept for 2.5 hours. I got a few things done and had time for a short nap.

Teddy and I made Lemon Dill Tilapia with Sauteed Swiss Chard (from the garden) and a tomato and cottage cheese salad. It helped that Ant Hil came over to play with Teddy while I did some of the cooking.

We finished our day together with Teddy in the Bjorn and a walk down to Music Under the Stars and to check out Wednesday night sand volleyball.

Tuesday with Sward Grand Parents

This was our first opportunity to spend most of the day taking care of Teddy. KT had us over last night and went over all that could and would occur. She really had all the bases covered to the extent we felt a bit anxious. However, all went as expected and we had no trouble at all. EAT - PLAY - SLEEP (and repeat). Steve was back on duty by 4:00pm and took over. We are looking forward to next Tues.

Monday with Dad

Today is the 1st day of the real world for us.  It was Teddy and I all day today.

9:30am - 5oz
12:30pm - 3oz
3:30pm - 5oz

We dropped a cooler off at my parents and then went to Target and Dominick's in the morning.  In the afternoon we went to Performance bike shop.  There was a lot of "talking" going on all day.  Our conversations pretty much consisted of making strange sounds at eachother and laughing.
